Orville’s chief medical officer Dr. Claire Finn is played by Penny Johnson Jerald. Finn, who also holds a ranking of lieutenant commander, is an exceptional physician, with experience in molecular surgery, psychiatry, and DNA engineering.
Although she could have easily landed a job on a heavy cruiser, she chose to join a mid-level ship finding it more meaningful and challenging. Finn is a single mom, and has two sons named Ty and Marcus, who travel the Orville with their mother as she works.
