Celebrities who are actually nerds in real life

When you’re watching the big screen, you never truly know the person behind the character; not especially if you’re watching something from the typical nerd-genre like sci-fi and fantasy, which are arguably a couple of the best genres out there. Shows from this particular genre tend to rally some of the most passionate of fans, just take Game of Thrones, for example, no one knew just how popular that would be, and yet it has captivated the world. But are the people playing these beloved characters as keen as the fans? Probably not all of them, but here are the celebrities who are actually nerds in real life.

Vin Diesel

Vin Diesel doesn’t keep it a secret either, although he probably isn’t the first person you would have thought of; perhaps it has something to do with his bad-boy attitude in the Fast and the Furious? Either way, this guy is a nerd and proud. Vin Diesel reportedly enjoys playing a traditional game of tabletop dungeons and dragons. Of course, Diesel has embraced this side of himself within his career by starring in The Last Witch Hunter, and even naming some of his characters after the prolific board game.

Seth Green

Seth Green is well known for playing Oz in Buffy the Vampire Slayer but has moved on to a variety of fan-favorites. Seth Green has taken part in a variety of projects, including voice acting for high-profile video games that he has a personal interest in such as Mass Effect and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Not only that, but Green has also now won an award for creating a series called Robot Chicken which features inspirations and influences from other nerd-culture movies and shows such as Star Wars.

Patton Oswalt

This probably doesn’t come as a shock, but not everyone who acts in a popular TV series would choose to watch the content, but Patton Oswalt certainly does. He is one of the supporting roles in Marvel’s Agents of Shield, and probably one of the most beloved for being such a loveable and hilarious part of the team. Oswalt is also a comedian and enjoys adding in nerd pop culture to his funny references, and is also keen on researching the lore on many sci-fi movies, especially Star Wars.

Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis is an A-list comedy actress who has starred in a number of roles, but we bet you didn’t know she was also a keen nerd who absolutely loves to play World of Warcraft. Kunis apparently developed an obsession with the game and convinced several of her friends to join. It was probably a massive hint to the world that she enjoyed nerd culture when she starred in Jupiter Ascending, a movie that received many negative reviews, but was surprisingly enjoyable to most. Apparently, Kunis’ obsession with World of Warcraft got so bad that she had to quit altogether, cutting from her life entirely, as it took up so much of her time. No doubt she has found something else to fill that very large gap in her life.

Everyone has a guilty pleasure; thankfully, these celebs know there is nothing to feel guilty about and are entirely open about their interests.
