5 actors who should play Robin opposite Robert Pattinson’s Batman

There’s only one person we love more than Batman, and that’s Robin. He’s the underdog, the sidekick, the trusted right-hand pal to everyone’s favorite dark and mysterious caped superhero – so we’re hoping Robin makes an appearance in the new upcoming Batman movie.

Robert Pattinson has been officially announced as the new Batman, due for release in 2021 and directed by the blockbuster mastermind Matt Reeves whose previous credits include Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Cloverfield. We’re certainly expecting big things from R-Pats and Reeves. But should we also be expecting an appearance of sidekick Robin?

Well, according to the latest rumors in Hollywood, the character is indeed set to make a come back after being notably absent from most of Hollywood’s Batman films for decades. Hooray! He will be truly welcomed back that’s for sure, but who could play him? Let’s take a look at some options.

Nicholas Hoult

Nicholas Hoult

Nicholas was right alongside Robert Pattinson when rumors started spreading about the imminent reveal of the next Batman actor, but producers have decided to go with the Twilight actor instead. However, this doesn’t mean that he’s not in which a chance of playing Robin instead. Nicholas’s innocent, boy-next-door charm may well work better in the role of Robin anyway. Fingers crossed!

Timothee Chalamet

Up there as one day the greatest standout newcomers in recent Oscar glory is Timothee Chalamet. He really has proved himself to be a fantastically talented young actor, starring in acclaimed films such as Beautiful Boy, Lady Bird, and Call Me By My Name. With the sequel to Call Me By My Name due to start production very soon, producers may well also want to nab him too as they’ll be coming out in the same year.

Will Poulter

A slight change in direction for Robin could turn him into a quirky, unlucky-in-love type of guy. If they do decide to go in this comical direction, who better to play Robin than Will Poulter? The British star has really managed to make a name for himself over the years, entertaining us in films such as We’re The Millers, Maze Runner, and The Revenant.

Joe Keery

Another actor who’s gone from strength to strength recently is Joe Keery, most famously playing the adorably charming Steve Harrington in the hit show Stranger Things. He’s got the same kind of dashingly mysterious appearance as Robert Pattinson with the long dark hair and piercing eyes, so if producers want a great double-trouble team, then Joe’s the man!

Maisie Williams

Batman first filled the position of Robin as a female with Carrie Kelley in the comics, so perhaps now it’s time for a woman to take the role on the big screen too. There’s been no bigger show on TV in recent years than Game of Thrones, and who would be more perfect than the amazingly talented Maise Williams? Batman’s producers haven’t confirmed anything yet but if we were to have favorites for the role…

Maisie Williams

We may have to wait another two years until we get to set our sights upon Batman on the big screen yet again, but that doesn’t mean we’re not already wincing with excitement. We’re expecting big things for the next big journey for the DC comic great, and here’s to hoping Robin is right there alongside side him too. Bring it on!
